Full Loop
Note: The trail is shared with cyclists, hikers, and equestrians. We will post "Race in Progress" signs, but please be courteous to other park users.

The whole course is essentially flat and non-technical, allowing for fast times. Elevation = 69 ft per loop. Gravel, rock, & dirt surface.

-
The "Whole Loop" (10 Miles): 1 mile section of the Prairie Welcome Trail + 9 miles of the Lake Perimeter Trail.

-
The "Small Inner Loop" (1 Mile): This section on the Prairie Welcome Trail will be the first mile before crossing over the bridge to start the next section. It will be marked with blue flagging.

-
The “Big Perimeter Loop” (9 miles): This section on the Lake Perimeter Trail will be run counterclockwise after crossing the bridge. It will be marked with pink flagging.

-
Switchover: Runners will have the option to move exclusively to the one mile “Small Inner Loop” at 5pm and ALL runners MUST move to this loop at 6pm. No runners who have not already crossed the bridge will be allowed to start the Lake Perimeter Trail after 6pm.
Inner 1 mile Loop before crossing the bridge to complete the Perimeter Trail
-
The "Small Inner Loop" (1 Mile): This section on the Prairie Welcome Trail serves as the first mile before crossing over the bridge to start the next section.

-
Between 7am & 5pm (race dependent), all runners will complete this loop before continuing on to run counterclockwise on the Perimeter Trail.

-
During the last 2 hours of both timed races, runners will have the choice to run the 1 mile loop continuously to accumulate distance.
Inner Loop SWITCH at hour 4 or 10 hrs
The Switch Transition Rule for SOLO & TEAMS
-
The Rule: Runners can SWITCH to exclusively run the 1-mile Short Inner Loop with 2 hours remaining but not a minute before.

-
The "Soft Cutoff”: If a runner finishes a 10-mile loop at 4:50, they cannot start exclusively running the 1-mile Short Inner Loop yet. They must wait 10 minutes until 5pm OR attempt another 10-mile loop (risky!).

-
The “Hard Cutoff”: The 9-mile Perimeter Loop will "close" at the 6pm cutoff. A volunteer will physically rope off the Lake Perimeter Trail entrance at exactly 6pm. Runners who have already started the Lake Perimeter Loop before 6pm will be allowed to continue but MUST finish that loop before 7pm or the loop will not count.

Tent City is the heart of our race village, providing a dedicated space for solo runners and relay teams to establish their personal base camps close to the action.
Located directly adjacent to the Start/Finish line, this village allows participants to set up canopies, recovery gear, and team nutrition for the duration of the 6 or 12-hour challenge.
Tent Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis starting Friday afternoon. We encourage teams to bring comfortable seating, fun team banners, and plenty of spirit to cheer on fellow athletes. Please ensure all setups are removed by the conclusion of the event, adhering to our strict Leave No Trace commitment to help preserve the natural beauty of Barr Lake State Park. We cannot assume responsibility for any tents/equipment/drop bags left unattended, specifically those dropped off on Friday.

SOLO DROP BAG AREA: Un-Crewed Solo Runners will have their own private space for Drop Bags, which can be dropped off between 5:30am and 6:30am. *Please do not leave valuables in your drop bags.
